I have been working for Head Start for 10 years now. The one toy I can say the children play with more than any other toy is Magformers. When I had my children the one thing I said to my husband is:
“We need to get a set of those Magformers because for year kids in my class have been playing with them nonstop.”
I tucked that suggestion away for Christmas. Then I was lucky enough to get a review for with Magformers. After much research, Santa gifted the children a set of Magformers Magnetic TRANSFORM 54PC SET. The children have been building like crazy and are already saving up for another set.
The set comes with an Idea Booklet to get the kiddos started. The children don’t need much to get them started though. The teacher in my LOVES that they are open ended. I think what I love more is that they are STEM Based ( science, technology, engineering and math) . This allows learning to start earlier. I find that the toys are perfect for child with fine motor difference. They allow children to play freely with out getting flustered. The also promote slow and easy fine motor practice to get to the shape you want to build when using the suggested ideas in the book, or their own ideas.
10 Things We Like about Magformers:
wide age range
the shapes always connect
magnets are completely encapsulated in the plastic
encourages imaginative play
promotes problem solving when planning and building
teaches how to follow simple directions
Things to Consider:
Purchase a larger set as 30 pieces really limits building and sharing.
Purchase a set with pentagons. It opens the door to more building options.
My children are now saving for the Power Construction Set because of the unique attachment pieces.Check them out on Amazon and on the Facebook.
